Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
More Than Enough
There are days when we look around and wonder whether we have enough. Maybe the week has brought unexpected bills, disappointing news, or worries about the future. We may even look at our congregation and wonder how God will continue His work with ordinary people and limited resources. The world teaches us to measure success by size, strength, and influence, so it is easy to believe we are falling short.
Jesus leads us to ask a different question. Before He speaks about building His Church, He asks, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter’s answer changes everything: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” If Jesus truly is the Christ, then His promises are more dependable than our circumstances.
He has already done everything necessary to rescue us through His death and resurrection. He continues to come to us through His Word, Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution, and the Lord’s Supper, strengthening faith with gifts that appear simple but carry eternal promises.
When we focus only on what we lack, fear grows. When we fix our eyes on Christ, hope swells. We discover His grace is more than enough for today’s burdens and tomorrow’s uncertainties. We don’t walk the road of faith alone. The Good Shepherd walks with us, and because He is with us, we always have exactly what we need.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for being more than enough for every need of body and soul. Keep us trusting Your promises above what we see, and strengthen us through Your gracious gifts until we reach our eternal home. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
When our eyes are fixed on Christ instead of our fears, we discover His promises are always greater than our problems.
