This year we are directing extra focus on the Youth Program opportunities at Zion. We are always looking for opportunities to expand our program. Currently we have:

Day Care. We have a wonderful Day Care program at Zion. Kids are cared for in body and soul. Every Wednesday morning at 9:30 there is a little Bible lesson in the church sanctuary.

Sunday School meets at 10:15am right after church The lessons cover Bible lessons related to what we are doing during the church service each week. We have wonderful teachers who care about the kids and love to teach them.

We have developed a program called: CASE for Faith -- C.A.S.E. Christian After School Education. This is a program for ages Kindergarten – Sixth Grade. I would like this to run from 4:00-5:00pm on Wednesday right after school. It is basically like a mini-VBS every week with fun, food and Bible lessons. This has always been enjoyed by the kids and they get to learn about good Christian values as they have fun.

To get this started I’ll need a couple folks who would be willing to lend a hand with a very simple lesson, some food and fun. Please prayerfully think about giving some time to this powerfully effective program.

Senior Youth is for Seventh Grade – High School. they meet at 10:15am right after church They share some devotion and conversation time. We’ll be offering some service opportunities at Zion and around the community. We’ll also plan some fun activities throughout the year. With the Bible lessons and fun we also focus on starting the process of passing the church off to the next generation.

First Communion

First Communion is for children in at least fifth grade We have two classes (usually in February) that will teach the basic fundamentals of this Sacred and Holy Meal. Children need to be in regular Sunday School attendance and regular church attendance. I do understand busy schedules so if there is a good reason for limited attendance please let me know and I’ll explore that with the Lay Elders.

Confirmation Class meets at 4pm right after school. It runs for one hour. This year we will explore: The Ten Commandments, The Apostles' Creed, and the Lord's Prayer from Luther’s Small Catechism. This class is for seventh and eighth grade children. It is a two year program. In addition to Confirmation class attendance we will have some duties during church services as well.
