December 25th- Peace Has Come – Luke 2 [1-20] (Children)
As We Gather
This Christmas morning we gather where Advent has led us—into the presence of the Child who completes every promise. Through weeks of watching, waiting, working, and wrestling, we discovered again how deeply we need the peace only God can give. Today that peace arrives in flesh and blood. The Child born in Bethlehem is the fulfillment of every prophecy, the answer to every ache of the human heart, and the true missing piece who restores us to the Father. Today we rejoice: Christ is born, and His peace is ours.
Prayer Before Service
Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
History:
This prayer originates from at least the 10th century and became widely known through the Sarum Rite and later the Book of Common Prayer. While not the appointed Collect of the Day, it is an excellent prayer of preparation. It focuses on cleansing of heart and mind, fitting for worshipers who gather to behold the incarnate Son. Its theme aligns with the sermon’s emphasis on Christ coming to redeem, restore, and renew His people.
