10/26/25 – Reformation: Still Free Still His Still Here – John 8:31–36
October 26, 2025
As We Gather
Today we celebrate the Reformation’s clear message: sinners are declared clean by grace alone, through faith alone, for Christ alone. The eternal Word Alone still flies and still frees. Rooted in God’s Word, we celebrate a church that is strong and alive, and we look ahead with anticipation toward Zion’s 150th anniversary on Pentecost 2027 as we continue handing the faith to the next generation.
Prayer Before Service
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
History:
This prayer comes from the Sarum Rite (medieval England) and was included in Cranmer’s 1549 Book of Common Prayer. Lutherans have treasured it as a humble, Scripture-rich preparation for worship—especially fitting on Reformation Sunday.
