02/25/26 (Wed2) – Why Do You Seem So Far Away – Psalm 13
February 25, 2026
As We Gather
Tonight’s message opens the Songs in the Night series by giving voice to a question many believers carry quietly: why God seems distant when prayers go unanswered. Psalm 13 teaches us that faith does not remain silent in the darkness but speaks honestly to the Lord. As we listen and pray together, we are reminded that Christ Himself entered silence and suffering for us—and that waiting in trust is itself an act of faith.
Prayer Before Service
O Lord, You have made us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.. Amen.
Historical Note:
This prayer comes from Confessions by St. Augustine of Hippo (354–430 AD). It reflects the early Church’s understanding of human restlessness apart from God and has been used devotionally for centuries. Its simplicity and depth make it especially appropriate for a Lenten service focused on longing, waiting, and trust.
