As We Gather
In Session 4 of the Serving Challenge, attention turns to action. Faith made available now moves into motion. Christ does not remain distant from human need; He steps forward in obedience, compassion, and sacrifice. Because His saving work stands complete, God’s people are freed to act in love toward neighbors placed directly in their path.
Prayer Before Service
Lord, make us instruments of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is despair, hope; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Historical Note:
Written by St. Francis of Assisi (13th century), this prayer has been used devotionally across the Church for generations. Its focus on lived mercy and peace makes it appropriate as a preparatory prayer before worship, complementing but distinct from the Collect.
