01/04/26 – Receiving the Gift – Ephesians 3:1–12
January 1, 2026
As We Gather
Epiphany reveals what Christmas promised. God’s light has entered the world and draws people toward Christ. When the Magi arrive, they do not negotiate or calculate. They worship. They open their treasures. This message explores how God’s generosity toward us shapes a life of trust, freedom, and open-handed living. We travel light because the Light has already come.
Prayer Before Service
Almighty God, You have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to You; and You have promised through Your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in His name You will be in the midst of them. Fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of Your servants as may be best for us, granting us in this world knowledge of Your truth and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
Historical Note:
This prayer comes from the liturgical tradition associated with St. John Chrysostom (c. AD 347–407) and has long been used as a prayer before worship in the Church. It emphasizes God’s gracious presence, unity in Christ, and trust in His provision—making it especially fitting for an Epiphany service centered on revelation and response.
