I will speak of your testimonies before kings, O Lord, and shall not be put to shame.
Built on the Rock of Christ
In our rural communities, storms come in many forms: blizzards that close roads, floods that wash out bridges, and hardships that test the soul. Christ calls us to anchor our lives in the confession Peter proclaimed: ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ This is not merely opinion. This is the unshakable truth revealed by the Father.
The Law reminds us we too often trust in our own strength or bend to the pressures of the world, faltering in our witness. The Gospel assures us Jesus Himself is the Rock on which the Church is built. Not on our worthiness; on His perfectness.
As Luther’s Small Catechism teaches, “the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth.”
When we stand on Jesus the Rock, we stand together. Like Peter and Paul, we may have different gifts and personalities, but we are united in one confession and one mission: to proclaim Jesus to all people.
Closing Prayer:
Lord Jesus, keep us steadfast in Your Word and bold in our confession. Unite us as Your Church, that we may proclaim You with courage and love. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
Standing on Christ the Rock, we will not be shaken.
