Text: 2 Corinthians 4:7
Suggested Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:7–10
We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
Through the Cracks
Have you ever dropped a favorite mug and glued it back together? Even when fixed, the cracks remain. Sometimes, those cracks can actually make it more beautiful when light shines through them.
Life can feel a lot like that broken mug. We try to hold everything together: our work, school, relationships, but stress and sin create cracks. The Law reminds us we are not as strong as we like to think. We cannot earn greatness or perfection; we can barely hold ourselves together.
But here’s the Gospel: God places His greatest treasure: the Good News of Jesus, inside fragile people like us. When we feel weak, His strength shines through. Like St. Bartholomew, who wasn’t famous but was faithful, we don’t have to be perfect. Jesus was perfect for us. His death and resurrection forgive our failures, and His light shines through every crack, drawing others to His love.
So the next time you feel ordinary or broken, remember: God delights to use jars of clay, just like you, to carry His glory.
Closing Prayer:
Lord Jesus, shine through my weaknesses so others see Your love. Use me, even when I feel broken, to share Your Gospel. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
Even cracked jars can shine the brightest light when the treasure inside is Christ.
