We are clothed with Christ
The Blessing That Cannot be Stolen
There are moments in life when we wish we could start again, moments when the shot missed, the words slipped out wrong, or the truth was avoided because it seemed easier to hide. Like Jacob standing before his blind father, we sometimes cover our weaknesses with our own kind of camouflage. The Law of God reminds us these disguises cannot fool God. They only weigh us down and keep us from the peace He desires for us.
The Gospel speaks stronger than our failures. Even in the tangled events of Isaac’s household God was weaving His promise forward. The blessing did not rest on human honesty but on Divine mercy. Jesus steps into our place not wearing a disguise, but carrying our sin openly to the cross. Through Him, we are given something far better than the blessing Jacob stole. Jesus gives the full and secure blessing of forgiveness and eternal life. In Holy Baptism, Christ clothes us in His righteousness, and no one can take that away.
When pausing in the quiet of the woods or kneel in prayer at day’s end, remember God meets us not in the story we pretend to have, but in the reality of where we are and in the life He truly gives. He calls us to walk in integrity, to be thankful for His daily gifts, and to live with confidence that His grace reaches farther than our fear.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, remove every disguise from our hearts and cover us with Your mercy. Teach us to walk in integrity and thanksgiving, trusting Your steadfast love. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
Christ gives a blessing we cannot earn and no one can steal. Walk today in His peace.
