Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.
When Life Isn’t Fair
Some days begin quietly and end in unexpected storms. A difficult conversation, troubling news, or an uncertain future can leave us asking, “Lord, why?” We naturally want explanations. God often gives us something even better.
The disciples discovered that truth on the Sea of Galilee. While the wind and waves raged, Jesus came to them. He didn’t wait until the storm had passed. He came in the middle of it and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” Peter’s faith faltered, but Jesus’ hand didn’t. When Peter cried, “Lord, save me,” Jesus immediately reached out and took hold of him.
Our lives are not free from storms either. Sin, fear, grief, and uncertainty remind us we can’t save ourselves. The Good News is Jesus has already entered the greatest storm by taking our sin to the cross and rising again in victory. Today He continues to come to us through His Word and Sacraments, assuring us we are His beloved people. Even when we don’t understand His ways, we can trust His heart. Jesus is with us, and His faithful presence is enough for today.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, keep our eyes fixed on You when life’s storms arise. Hold us securely in Your grace and strengthen our faith through Your saving Word. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
The storm may still rage, but Jesus is already there. His presence is enough for today.
